Expectation
It's a bastard isn't it !

Fans are complaining after missing out on world stars, an injury to a 20 million pound player and poor performances in a narrow loss at Stamford bridge and a draw in the away leg of a Europa league play off game.

I've been supporting this club for to long !

expect the players to be fit for the start of a season, expect players to be able to trap and pass a ball, expect a bit of effort

Re: Expectation
Some of this may end up being a bit of a blessing in disguise because if we'd have held on for a point at the plastics despite being absolutely shit and rolled this lot over 4-0 the owners might have let the window shut without adding anyone else.

Surely now they must realise the true running costs of a 60,000 seater stadium go beyond Ayew and dip their hands into their pockets again?

If the unthinkable were to happen and we get relegated at the end of this season the blame stops with them. They can't say they weren't warned.

Chim. Considering they stuck this up on the OS earlier, I wouldn't take it as written they see the problem.

Europa League v Premier League

As Slaven Bilic said in his pre-match press conference, the question is asked every year – ‘Why do you want to stay in the Europa League if it is going to have an effect on your Premier League form?’

Bilic insists that, injury crises aside, he has a squad big and strong enough to cope with both competitions, and that he sees European football as an important step forward in the Club’s development and growth.

Chim

We've both seen what a West Ham side looks like when relegation looms and this squad in the current league cannot be viewed in this way.

Our expectation of the current season in our new ground with a week left in the transfer market is a different matter though !

Blame g&s . They are the ones to blame. Bigging everything up and not coming up with the goods. Wankers the pair of them.

Yet another false dawn beckons!

The thing is, we've seen Chelsea come along with a new billionaire owner & turn from an average top division club to one of the elite.

We've seen Man City get a great new ground with mega rich owners turn from also-rans to perennial champion contenders

All this helped by buying the best players available
The trouble is they don't want to come to us!

Re: Expectation
I don't particularly like the owners if I'm honest , but they're by far the best we've had that I've seen (since the late 80's)

As for the original post, every season I tell my self not to get excited and every season that goes to shit and I'm disappointed!

Despite our terrible start and injuries I still think we're going to have a good season

Ever the optimist

Re: Expectation
If I'm being honest I am a little concerned with all the injuries and the lack of real spending this window. However when people start saying how bad the current owners are, I think they need to remember how bad it was before they took over. I still remember when we had all that young talent and all that was needed was a bit investment and Brown sold them all.

My expectations are that even our stiffs should be capable of beating some dogshit Romanian team named after a Vauxhall model.

Re: Expectation
Injuries and resting players are clearly part of the problem because Payet and Lanzini are the creative hub of the team and when they were both out last season I seem to remember we struggled a bit. Sakho and his injuries and issues don't help either because I feel we are a better team with a physically and mentally fit Sakho.

My concern though is that the players we have brought in don't seem much of a step up to those we have let go. Is Tore better than Moses? Nordveit better than Song? Callieri better than Emenike? Time will tell obviously and maybe Feghouli will end up a good signing and hopefully Ayew when fit.

Last season though I think we were pleasantly surprised with the form shown by the likes of Payet, Lanzini and Antonio but then Sullivan gets all bold this summer and starts spouting about big signings arriving and it hasn't really happened. Ayew was clearly a panic buy and a player who allegedly didn't want to come here on a free last year and I dare say he wouldn't have been here this if one of the top targets had arrived. So I think Sullivan probably raised fans expectation with his bold statements and it hasn't come off.

Re: Expectation
West ham are still evolving , with a new stadium and basically a team that came together last season with a more attacking style under a brand new manager.

Personally I would be happy if we got a top 8 and a decent Cup run, that is my highest expectation.

Every team needs some luck to do well in the Prem, with some luck a top six place is possible even a Cup semi to final, but we cannot judge yet, it will take at least 10-15 games to get some understanding of where the squad is, Injuries will play a big part in West Hams season and sadly we have not been fortunate with them .
Expectation is like a fart in the wind right now all we should expect is fluidity in play and good performances.

Re: Expectation
What the fuck are you talking about? Personally I'm delighted we have bought a heap of shit in the transfer market after being promised marquee stars. I'm delighted we spent 20 mil on Swansea star Ayew. I'm delighted with the performance and the narow defeat to Chelsea, and I am delighted with the performance and result last night.

What a strange post.
